Lets be honest
funding and financing an LGV training course is no easy feet
and certainly by no means cheap but there is good reasoning
behind this when you break down the costs involved:
Large Goods
Vehicles don't come cheap, Vehicle Insurance, Liability
Insurance, Approved body Memberships, Road Funding Licence,
Vehicle maintenance and servicing, Vehicle repairs (gear
boxes especially) also bear in mind all LGV training
vehicles have to be loaded, Category C training vehicles
carry a 5000 kg load and Category C+E carry a 8000 kg load,
this has a massive impact on fuel consumption at less than
10 miles per gallon.
The load is
'water' loaded in IBC's (Intermediate Bulk Containers) which
are securely loaded and fastened to the vehicle.
Then you
have to pay the instructor his wages, after all were here to
make a living by passing on our decades of experience and
expertise, making you a competent and eco safe driver and
opening the doors so you can enter in to a new career as a
professional driver.
Be Warned
some companies don't play fair!
Be sure you get a
complete break down on training costs before you commit to
any form of training, be especially wary of VAT.
Be sure to
find out if VAT is included in the quote or is added to your
training fee at the end, this can make a several hundred
pound difference to the final fee!
Also be a
little suspicious of LGV training companies who state they
are Number 1, and have constantly high pass rates - This is
of little use to you, as there is no governing body or
association who records this information, so it's purely on
the companies own hear say!
The truth of
the matter is provided you receive adequate training to
prepare you for the Vocational Test and you manage to keep
your nerves in check during the one hour or so test you will
pass. Make a major mistake or have a lapse in concentration,
well, we'll see you next week for a little more training and
another test.
All of
our quoted prices are fully inclusive with no hidden extras
There should be
no reason why you need to part with any of your money until
the day of your training, any reputable company will have no
problems with you visiting them in person prior to training,
Look for local companies with local STD coded phone numbers,
be careful about paying deposits to companies that are
brokers,
they will cost you hundreds of pounds more and promise you
the earth and in some cases leave you high and dry.
